Sangiovese vines in the woodland estate of Montevertine above Radda in Chianti

Montevertine

IGT Toscana · Cult Producer

Founded by Sergio Manetti in 1971 as a personal project, Montevertine has become one of Chianti’s most revered cult estates — yet it is not Chianti Classico DOCG, by choice. Manetti refused to include white grapes as required by the rules of the day, and the wines have been labelled IGT Toscana ever since. Le Pergole Torte — 100% Sangiovese from old vines — is one of Italy’s greatest wines and is produced in tiny quantities.
